Adult ED Classes

Adult Basic Education (ABE- Group B)-Adult Basic Education is designed for the adult learner who wishes to strengthen reading, writing, math, or life-coping skills. The program offers basic instruction for adults functioning below an eighth grade level in reading, math, and/or language. Individuals are pre-tested to determine reading, math, and vocabulary entry levels.

Class Locations and times:

Classes are offered in the mornings and evenings on the following days: Mondays & Thursdays, or Tuesdays & Thursdays. Classes are available at the following times and locations:

Welcome to Quad Area Adult Ed...

Our Mission Statement

To provide, in collaboration with other agencies, educational opportunities for adults including basic skills education necessary to be literate; basic skills education necessary for training and retaining; basic skills education necessary for personal self-improvement/enhancement; and basic skills education necessary to enter a postsecondary educational institution.

Goals

Our Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes are designed to help students prepare to earn a high school equivalency diploma (HiSET, formerly the GED), and transition to various college and career pathways.

We are a free, closed-enrollment program that offers a variety of classes designed to help students in Tangipahoa and East Feliciana parish meet their academic, professional, and personal goals.


We provide the following services:

  1. Adult Education and Literacy: ABE&ASE/ELA/Workforce Preparation/Workplace Literacy

  2. Community Education: TABE Upgrading; Compass, Accuplacer, & ACT Prep; Allied Health Science Test Prep; Health Literacy; Computer Literacy Training; Financial Literacy; FASFA Assistance

According to www.censusscope.org, there are 11,194 individuals (19% of the population) 25 and over without a high school diploma in Tangipahoa parish and 2698 individuals (19% of th population) 25 and over without a high school diploma in East Feliciana Parish. Our goal is to serve a minimum of 426 students who are in need of Adult Basic Education (ABE) services. With class sections that meet in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings, most students are able to find a class schedule that works.  With our four qualified instructors and tutors, the Adult Education Program is ready to help any students continue their education and career!

HiSET/Adult Secondary Education (ASE- Group A) Program—Adult Secondary Education or General Education Development classes offer instruction to adults who are preparing to pass the HiSET exam or who desire to enhance essential skills. Two areas of instruction are provided: Language Arts Writing and Mathematics. Individual instruction is based on the student’s entry level and needs. Class enrollment/attendance is open-entry, open-exit. Program completion is attained with passing the HiSET tests or by reaching an individual’s goal.
